Is it time for you to take the Selective Thinking Skills Test so that you might be able to make the next big leap in your academic career? Well, here are a few tips to aid your endeavour:

Know What Will Be Tested

The first thing that you may need to do, before even starting the preparation for the Selective Thinking Skills Test, is to have a clear idea of all that is included. At times, students begin their preparation so haphazardly that they forget to go through the topics first.

For those who don’t already know, the test may comprises of following key topics: logical reasoning, logical deductions, mathematical reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.

Learn Time Management

When it comes to such tests and examinations, time management is of pivotal importance. A good time management during Selective Thinking Skills Test is one of the technique that may help you to reduce exam stress.

An important tip, in this regard, could be to divide the total time allotted to you into seconds. Once you have done that, you can efficiently allow a specific number of seconds to spend on each question. It will ensure that you’re able to attempt almost every question given on the question sheet. The new format may seem like less questions, however, the increased focus on English means there are more words per question. In order to truly understand the question, time and care must be taken for the first time you read it.

Strategies

You might have prepared for every possible question on the exam, but doing so will not guarantee your success. Why? It is because knowing everything is different from getting questions right on the exam. To ensure the latter, you’ll need to form a sound strategy.

For instance, consider the example of a numeric question. You could go about solving it through a lengthy procedure, which will eat up precious time. Alternatively, you could find a shortcut for going about it, such as learning how to solve simultaneous questions mentally and creating mind-maps to make valid logical deductions. You not only need to focus on solving questions correctly but quickly as well.

Practice Hard

You cannot stress enough on this final piece of advice: practice for the exam like your life depends upon it. No matter how good you might be at time management or strategising, the fact is that you won’t be able to do anything if you don’t know what the questions are about.

If you think about it, practice and preparation are prerequisites for all the consideration already mentioned. If you don’t know what the examiner is asking, your time management skills won’t matter at all. Solving many practice exams beforehand may help enhance your understanding.

When you take it all into perspective, you have to say that it is not only hard work that will make you ace the Selective Thinking Skills Test but the small things matter as well. Factors like time management, attentive reading, vocabulary and knowing the faster calculation methods will go a long way towards ensuring that you get the best possible score!
